Welcome to 1st Practice, Hull, where we look forward to providing you with high quality dental service with our prime commitment being preventative dental care.

 

In dentistry, prevention is always better than the cure and protecting your teeth minimises the amount of dental treatment you should need. We are dedicated to providing regular check-ups and hygienist visits for our patients.

 

We believe that frequent visits to the hygienist provide the basis for improved dental health. Our dental practice in Hessle, Hull provides the friendly, caring and professional dental service you need.

Meet The Team:

Stuart Osbourne BDS

Dental Surgeon

GDC No: 51981

Stuart qualified in 1978 from Edinburgh Dental Hospital and is the owner of 1st Practice dental care. He has worked in Hessle since 1980 and moved to the current premises on Boothferry road in 2006.

 

Over the last 30 years Stuart has developed a very loyal patient base with many still registered at the practice from when they first saw him in 1980.

Victoria Innes RDT RDH

Dental Therapist / Hygienist

GDC No: 6349

Victoria qualified from Leeds Dental School in 2003, following an education at Hymers College. She first became interested in dentistry whilst helping out during the school holidays. As a dental hygienist and dental therapist, she enjoys providing treatment for children and takes particular care to help them feel comfortable during their visit.

Sarah Hague RDH

Dental Hygienist

GDC No: 6293

Sarah qualified from Liverpool Dental Hospital in 2003, and has worked at 1st Practice part-time ever since. She has recently completed further studies, obtaining a degree at the University of Central Lancashire.

Joanna Capes

Dental Nurse / Administrator

GDC No: 112953

Joanna joined the practice in 2014 after teaching the National Diploma in Dental Nursing for 10 years at Hull College. She qualified in 1996 and now has 20 years experience as a dental nurse.

 

Joanna also acts as an examiner for the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses and takes part in examining the practical skills of dental nurses twice a year for the National Diploma examination.

Melanie Black

Dental Nurse

GDC No: 138059

Melanie joined after finishing school at 16. She qualified as a dental nurse in 1992 and worked full time before leaving in 2006 to have a baby girl. She now works part-time, enjoys chair side care and has a good relationship with patients.

Gemma Abba

Dental Nurse

GDC No: 231327

Gemma joined the practice in 2008 after a career in retail sales. She qualified from Hull College in 2011 and works both in the surgery and reception, keeping everybody on their toes with her cross infection protocols!

Jodie Harold

Dental Nurse

GDC No: 172942

Jodie joined the practice in 2006 after qualifying in 2008 from Hull College. She works in both the reception and surgery, thoroughly enjoying  excellent rapport with patients whilst making them feel comfortable. She also takes responsibility for all the day-to-day administration at the practice.

Jennifer Lloyd

Dental Nurse

Jennifer joined our practice in December 2016 and qualified as a dental nurse in 2011. She worked in another dental practice for 7 years but was looking for a change and new challenges as part of our team. She enjoys working chair side and is also responsible for the emergency medical equipment.

We are a family run practice long established in Hessle. At 1st Practice we offer a high standard of dental care and attention for the whole family in a professional & friendly environment with our prime commitment being preventative dental care. We are dedicated to providing regular dental examinations and hygiene visits for our patients. We believe prevention is always better than the cure as protecting your teeth minimises the amount of dental treatment you should need.

We aim to treat you with respect and courtesy and help you make the best use of the services which we provide. Advice on treatment will be based on clinical need and we shall explain our findings, treatment and advice. We shall maintain strict confidentiality and personal information will not be given to family members without your permission.
